Use your phone or watch to track your walks and runs. Million Miles uses GPS to record your route and work out your distance, pace and time. Got an Apple Watch? Leave your phone at home if you like.
Million Miles tracks your activity like any running app. The difference is every mile you log is added to one shared goal, alongside everyone else who joins. It's brand new, the counter's only just started, and we're going to get there together.
Android is on the way. Get a nudge when it lands.
The counter started on 25 September. Every walk and run from now is one of the very first, and the people who join now get to shape what it becomes.

The moment you finish, your distance is added to the community total. You'll always see exactly what you've contributed and how far there is to go.
Milestones on the way to a million belong to everyone. Shared challenges, badges and a week-by-week picture of what we've all done keep it fun in between.
Most fitness apps rank you against everyone else. Million Miles aims to have everyone work together on shared challenges and contribute to the same finish line. So there's a running count of what we've all done this week, challenges with a shared goal, and a place to cheer each other on.
Make a team for your running club, office or family and share the code. Every walk or run any of you logs goes on the team's total. Message, cheer, and follow along.
Everything you'd expect from a good running app, for walks too. Free, with nothing locked away.

Your route, distance and pace as you move. Wear an Apple Watch and your heart rate zone shows too, on your wrist or your phone. Five zones for runs; easy, brisk and challenging for walks.

Every walk and run gets a pace chart, mile splits and where the effort went. Rate how hard it felt, starting from what your heart rate suggests, and it's saved to Apple Health for your Training Load.

Your own goal for the week alongside the community's progress. Works with Apple Health, so Strava or Garmin miles count too.
Badges for the things that actually keep people going: showing up early, showing up late, cheering someone else on, as well as the miles.
Hi, I'm Gav. I'm a software engineer who loves hiking, running, and being outdoors.
Million Miles is my passion project: a way to find out whether, together, we can walk and run a million miles.
I wanted to build something positive, a way to encourage people to be active that's collaborative rather than competitive. Wherever you are on your fitness journey, every step does the same good for your body and mind, and every mile counts towards something we're building together.
It's completely free. No paywall, no ads, no premium tier. I cover the hosting costs myself.
I look forward to you joining me on the journey.

Yes. No subscription, no locked features, no ads. It's a personal project, and Gav covers the costs.
Each walk or run is added to the community total and kept for you across your phone and watch. Teams, challenges and chat also need to know who's who. You can look around the app first without one, and Sign in with Apple sets it up in one tap.
Both, equally. A mile is a mile, whether you walk it or run it.
Yes. Choose miles or kilometres in Settings and every distance and pace in the app follows, the community total included. Rather see the million in miles while you use kilometres? There's a switch for that.
We'll celebrate. Then we'll decide what's next as a community.
No ads, and nothing in the app tracks you. Your data is only used to run the app: your activities, your miles and the community features. It's never sold or used for advertising. The only analytics we use is on this website: Umami, a privacy-first tool that counts visits and button presses without cookies and without identifying you. The details are in our privacy policy.
We use it to measure your activity while it's recording, and to draw your route on your own activity page. Your routes aren't shared with other people and are never sold. See our privacy policy.
Yes, through Apple Health. Turn on Apple Health sync in Settings and any walk or run with a GPS route that lands in Apple Health (from Garmin, Strava, Nike Run Club or most other apps) is added to your miles. Activities you record in Million Miles are saved to Apple Health too.
Not yet, but it's coming. Leave your email below and you'll get one message when it launches.
Yes, for Apple Watch. It's included with the iPhone app: start a walk or run from your wrist, see your distance, pace, time and heart rate as you go, and pause or finish from either the watch or the phone. Add it to your watch face to start in one tap. Recording on your phone? Wear the watch and your heart rate comes along too. Miles are counted the moment you finish. Other watches work through Apple Health sync.
Yes. The Apple Watch app records on its own, with the watch's GPS and heart rate. On a watch with cellular, your miles go up as soon as you finish. Without signal, they're kept safe on the watch and upload by themselves once it's back on Wi-Fi or near your iPhone. You don't need to open anything.
Brand new and free on iPhone. It takes a minute to set up, then get your first miles on the board.
